With salt free spice blend. Slow Cooker Gourment TM makes a few of these.
I sauteed Neshama turkey chicken breakfast sausages and carmelized some onions.
Then I added cut carrots to the bottom of the crock pot. Layed the sausage and onion.
Rinsed and sorted and then spread the lentils across the sausage.
Added chicken broth and spice mix. Tucked the bay leaf in under the vegetables.
Then 15 minutes before serving I added a cup of chopped spinach.
I served the dish with fluffy white rice and a green salad with Tahini dressing.
The ingredients in the spice pack are: dried onions and celery, spices, black pepper, garilic and bay leaf.
It tasted very southern. Not spicy like cajun, but rich and textured like a southern dish.
My brother and mother joined me and they seemed to like it as well.
We all liked the lentils. They came out very savory and had a lot of flavor.
It's a great packet to add chopped carrots, and sausage to in the morning and then have a great meal at night. (From stewing in the crock pot.)
